Representative Football
Why are we involved in representative games?
It is a great chance to support our wider competition, encourage friendships & foster goodwill.
We can recognize and promote the quality of our players and competition.
One of our very key goals for these games is the goodwill and friendship that develops across our players which we hope will affect in some significant way the respective competitions in our association. We encourage and foster a high standard in attitude, teamwork and integrity.
How do you get selected?
Managers and players are either approached or may nominate themselves.
A selection panel is appointed.
Initially a large group of 20/25 players are noted. From this group 16 players are selected for the playing squad with 4 noted as shadows for the weekend.
Players respect the difficulty of including everyone who qualifies, the final decision is with the coach.
Coaches may organise training, trials or socials prior to the games.
What qualifies a player/official as a representative?
As these teams would represent our Association as a whole the selection of players and officials is done with the following in mind:-
- - That an acceptance of the associations Aims be paramount in both word and deed.
- - Players would pay their own way.
- - Players would be selected on merit and suitability to the team.
- - Selection would be via a panel of not less than three individuals.
- - Players must be available for both days.
- - Players must demonstrate an ability to play with a positive spirit, outlook and a strong sense of teamwork.
